Candle Care & Safety Warning

  • To prevent tunnelling and create a candle memory, the first time you light your candle let the wax melt all the way to the edge of the glass
  • If your wax is collecting on one side of the jar creating an uneven burn, adjust the wick back to the centre of the jar or lean it closer to the side that requires more heat
  • When burning many candles together, please them apart to prevent an uneven burn
  • Keep candles away from sunlight and heat sources. Candles will lose its scent and discolour when placed in direct sunlight
  • We recommend extinguishing candle flames with a snuffer, this prevents smoking and hot wax from splattering. If you do blow out the flame, do so very gently. Then straighten the wick to the centre of the jar ready for the next time
  • We recommend using a wick trimmer and trim the wick to 5mm before relighting. Keeping the wick nice and short means your candle will burn at the right temperature
  • Keep your candle free of debris and wick trimmings
  • Maximise the candle scent throw by keeping windows and doors closed
  • Do not burn a candle for less than 1 hour to avoid tunnelling or more than 4 hours at a time to avoid overheating
  • Stop burning the candle when only 10mm of wax remains in the jar
  • Keep your candles in an upright position when not in use
  • Recycle or repurpose your candle glass by wiping out excess wax and rinsing with warm soapy water. Our secret little trick is to fill the jar with hot water and the excess wax will melt and float to the top, once the wax has hardened you can crack the wax to discard it in the bin rather than washing it down the sink

For safety sake please follow these precautions:

  • Always burn your candles within sight and never leave unattended
  • Always burn your candles on a heat resistant surface and away from anything flammable that can catch on fire
  • Keep out of reach from children and pets
  • Avoid drafts and direct sunlight
  • Never move a burning candle and ensure the wax is solid and cool before handling
  • Never use water or the lid to extinguish a candle
  • A burning candle should not be used as a nightlight
  • A candle should not be burned for more than four hours at a time
  • Don’t burn a candle all the way down. For a margin of safety, discontinue burning a candle when 10mm of wax remains in the container
  • Do not use your candle if the glass is chipped or cracked
